A novel wound dressing composed of pullulan hydrogel and bacterial cellulose with Vitamin C and Vitamin E dual-release feature has been developed

The collaborative study “Pullulan hydrogel-immobilized bacterial cellulose membranes with dual-release of vitamin C and E for wound dressing applications” contributed by ITU faculty member Prof. Dr. Ayten Karataş from Molecular Biology and Genetics (MBG) Department was published in the journal “International Journal of Biological Macromolecules”.

Biocompatible and Conductive Surgical Suture with the Collaboration of Two Departments of Our Faculty

An In-depth Study about Nuclear Factor One (NFI) Family Transcription Factors

The study led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aslı Kumbasar from ITU Molecular Biology and Genetics Department in order to investigate the effect of NFI on SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells was puplished in Biochimica et Biophysica Acta - Gene Regulatory Mechanisms under the name of “NFI transcriptionally represses CDON and is required for SH-SY5Y cell survival”.

Assoc. Yeasts Can be Engineered as well!

The study conducted under the leadership of ITU Molecular Biology and Genetics Department faculty member Prof. Dr. Zeynep Petek Çakar and based on application of a novel engineering approach “Evolutionary Engineering” to obtain stress resistant yeasts was puplished in one of the most prestigious journals in microbiology field Frontiers in Microbiology under the title of “Physiological and Molecular Characterization of an Oxidative Stress-Resistant Saccharomyces cerevisiae Strain Obtained by Evolutionary Engineering”.
