Yağcı Group published a review on Photocontrolled Living Polymerizations on Angewandte Chemie International Edition

Prof. Yagci published a review article in “Angewandte Chemie International Edition” about photoinduced controlled polymerizations in collaboration with well-known scientist David Haddleton. “Angewandte Chemie International Edition” is one of the most respected journals in the field of chemistry that publishes only the most recent groundbreaking developments. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Görkem Yılmaz and Dr. Cansu Aydoğan from the Yağcı Research group were co-authors of the paper.

The article entitled “Layer-by-Layer self-assembled emerging systems for nanosized drug delivery” by our faculty members from Chemistry Department, Dr. Res. Ass. Nejla Cini (Corresponding author and article proposer) and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ferah Calisir, has been accepted to be published in Nanomedicine journal. With an impact factor of 6.096, the journal is one of the most precious journals in the field of medicine (miscellaneous) and welcomes unsolicited article proposals.

New phthalonitrile/metal phthalocyanines-gold nanoparticle conjugates for biological applications

This study has been carried out in the research lab of Prof. Dr. Zehra Bayır and published in the Dalton Transactions in 2022. Bayır et. al synthesized novel 2-(4-ethynyl-N,N-dimethylaniline)-substituted metallophthalocyanines and modified the surface of gold nanoparticles in this study.

Arrogant and Bold: Turkey's Nineties” a new book by Dr. Doğan Gürpınar

A new book by one of our faculty members Doğan Gürpınar, which discusses the cultural, intellectual, and political history of Turkey’s ’90s was published under the name ‘Küstah ve Cüretkar: Türkiye'nin Doksanlı Yılları’. The author notes that the book for the first time directs nostalgia not toward the old times of purity and innocence but toward the boisterous, colorful, and at times hedonistic times. From mafias to popular culture, it attempts to combine the volatile and disjointed parts of “Old Turkey”.

The Second First Ever Humor Magazine of The Ottoman Empire is Translated into the Latin Alphabet for the First Time by Dr. Stefo Benlisoy, one of our Faculty Members together with Alp Eren Topal and Seval Şahin.

Çıngıraklı Tatar is the second humor magazine published by Teodar Kasap after the closure of the first humor magazine, Diyojen. The Ottoman Turkish version of the magazine continued publishing between April 5, 1873, and July 18, 1873, with 29 issues in total while the Greek version was published between June 5, 1873, and July 19, 1873, also with 29 issues. Now, after 150 years, the magazine is back on the shelves thanks to translations from Dr. Stefo Benlisoy, Alp Eren Topal, and Seval Sahin. ​

The First Annual Humanities and Social Sciences Colloquium

The Department of Sociology is organizing a series of “Humanities and Social Sciences Colloquiums” starting from the 2022-2023 fall term. The first of the colloquiums was held in the Department of Sciences and Letters and featured academics from Princeton University, the École pratique des Hautes études (EPHE), Izmir Bakırçay University, and Istanbul Technical University, in a wide variety of topics including architecture and material politics in the Ottoman Empire, gender equity and fairness in digital food markets, apocalypse from a tardo-antique tradition perspective and medieval automata interpretations.

Biocompatible and Conductive Surgical Suture with the Collaboration of Two Departments of Our Faculty
