Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Demirci gave a talk on “Reductions of  (2+1) and (3+1) Dimensional Kadomtsev- Petviashvili Type Equations and Dispersive Shock Waves” as an invited speaker at the workshop which is held at the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Science, Cambridge, UK.

The theme of the workshop was “modulation theory and dispersive shock waves” and held between 11-15 July 2022. The workshop focused on dispersive shock waves (DSWs) and related structures in integrable and non-integrable systems, theoretical analysis of modulation systems, the numerical realisation of DSWs and physical applications of DSWs. Dr. Demirci presented some results on DSWs solutions of some multidimensional equations which were obtained in some sequel studies done by the research group formed by Dr. Semra Ahmetolan (ITU, Mathematics Department), Dr. Ali Demirci and two Ph.D. students, Günay Aslanova and Neşe Özdemir. DSWs, also known as undular bores in fluid mechanics, are fundamental phenomena describing slow modulations of periodic nonlinear waves. The research group studies on the analytical and numerical description of DSWs solutions of the multidimensional nonlinear partial differential equations.
