Prof. Dr. Nalan Antar gave a talk entitled "Effect of self-steepening on optical solitons in parity-time-symmetric potential: phase shift, symmetry-breaking, and stability" at an international conference organized by Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, the International Mathematical Union, and the Physical Society of Uzbekistan.

Dr. Antar presented some new results about the effect of the self-steepening effect on optical solitons. Symmetry-breaking bifurcation was also presented for continuous families of solitons in a nonlinear Schrödinger equation with self-steepening and the symmetric double hump potential.
