An ITU Scientific Research Project (BAP) entitled Acquiring Social Immunity and Resilience Through Digital Commonings: Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 Activities During the 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquake Process (Project number: 44462) has been developed and approved as an emergency response with the coordination of Research Assistant Assoc. Prof. Ebru Yetişkin Doğrusöz in March 2023.

The primary focus of the project is to explore how social media and artificial intelligence (AI) platforms are used for commons in disasters. Departing from the critical accounts of Science and Technology Studies, the research experiments on developing an innovative approach in disaster studies. Acquiring social immunity and resilience are examined through the lens of immunology and biopolitics.

This research project also constitutes one of the first digital ethnography studies carried out in the Department of Sociology at Istanbul Technical University and the Science, Technology, and Society (STS) Graduate Program. Digital ethnography software was collaboratively learned and used for the first time during the first and second phase of the research by the research team, Research Assistant Assoc. Prof. Ebru Yetişkin Doğrusöz, İsmail Yiğit, Uğur Kocager and Çağla Ayaz.
