Initially, the Physics Branches of the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences were reorganized under the Department of Physics Engineering in the Faculty of Science and Letters after 1982. Our department produced its first graduates with a small number of faculty members. Over time, both the undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as the research laboratories have improved and attained the present international level with the participation of a large number of faculty members.



Physics Engineering Program


The Physics Engineering Program focuses on combining theoretical and experimental knowledge provided by physics with engineering formation and programming techniques.

In the department, with national and international collaborations; theoretical, experimental and computational research is being undertaken in fields such as condensed matter physics, nuclear physics, particle physics, atomic and molecular physics, mathematical physics, gravitation, cosmology, astrophysics and statistical physics. The department runs Molecular Materials, Magnetism and Low Temperatures, MOS-Molecular Spectroscopy, Nanoscale Surface Science, Nanomechanics, Nanosem, Nuclear Science, Crosslinked Materials, Dielectric Spectroscopy, Electrochemical Coating and Characterization, Computational Rheology, Laser Material Synthesis and Optics, Rheological Measurements and Nanocomposite Production, Liquid Crystal, Spectroscopy and High Energy Astrophysics laboratories. Thanks to the awards and projects received by the members, the laboratory facilities and research topics in the department are getting richer day by day.

Undergraduate students in the Physics Engineering program have the chance to specialize in the subjects they want through the elective courses offered by the department and other engineering departments in our university. In this way, students can receive post-graduate education in fundamental sciences and various engineering branches in respected national and international institutions and they can carry out academic studies and can get career opportunities in a wide range from healthcare to electronics and from information to finance.
