With its 250-year history, İTÜ has pioneered scientific developments throughout its historical journey from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic of Türkiye. With its intellectual memory and distinguished environment, the institution forms a strong bridge from the past to the future.

As the architect of many scientific and technological advances, İTÜ has pioneered many firsts in Türkiye. With its innovative perspective and strong relations with the world, İTÜ continues to improve its pioneering position. In this context, "İTÜ 250th Anniversary Collection" aims to narrate the major cornerstones of the University's two and a half century long journey.

This marvelous collection is, to a considerable extent, prepared with the contributions of the professors and the postgraduate students of the Sociology Department and The History of Science And Technology Program (MS and PhD). There are also several books written with the great contributions of ÇÖKELEZ, ZORLU, Assoc. Prof. Burak BARUTÇU and Hande VURAL ÇELİK.

The papers presented by the postgraduate students of The History of Science and Technology program in the International Symposium on 250 Years of Engineering and Architecture in Türkiye were also published as part of the collection.

No doubt, İTÜ 250th Anniversary Collection reveals İTÜ's important milestones throughout its history and its contribution in scientific and technological fields in a timespan from the Ottoman Empire to the Republican period of Türkiye. In addition to edited volumes, the collection contains monographs, reprints and biographies. Hence, this collection not only uncovers İTÜ's history, but also enlightens its vision for the future.

Moreover, within the scope of İTÜ’s 250th Anniversary Activities, this rare work of the library of the Graduate School of Engineering – former name of İTÜ, titled "An Introduction to the Calculus of Variations, with a Theoretical View of Maxima and Minima" is digitized and translated by Assis.
