Prof. Tuncay ZORLU, attended to a prestigious symposium organized by CMES (The Center for Middle Eastern Studies, Harvard University) and the Al Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation (the UK), held at Harvard University on April 27, 2024.

Prof. Tuncay ZORLU, made a speech titled as "Some remarks on the evolution of engineerig in the Ottoman world” in the symposium The Ottoman Scientific Heritage: Past, Present, and Future". This symposium was also a book launch in honor of the recent publication of the English edition of The Ottoman Scientific Heritage by Prof. E. İhsanoğlu, translated by Maryam Patton.

This book also considered as a key historical reference to the Ottoman scientific heritage, revealing achievements in science and civilisation, and contributions to the cumulative human heritage, secured under the patronage of the Ottoman State throughout its six centuries of history.

ZORLU’s speech not only underlined the story of engineering in the Ottoman realm but also drew attention to ITU’s pioneering role in scientific and technological developments in modern Türkiye.
