Prof. Dr. Nurullah Ardıç delivered an invited talk titled "Secularization, Modernization, and the Islamic World: Theoretical and Historical Approaches" on October 2, 2025, at Ibn Haldun University's Faculty of Islamic Sciences.

Prof. Dr. Nurullah Ardıç delivered an invited talk at Ibn Haldun University on secularism and modernization in the Islamic world. He critiqued Western concepts and Turkish literature, proposing a new analytical model. His framework compares "conflict" and "adaptation" paradigms to illustrate how different scholars interpret the relationship between religion and modernity.

The abstract of the presented paper is as follows: “In this conference, Prof. Ardıç briefly discussed the intellectual and historical context of the concept of secularization in the West, before examining the existing 'literature' concerning the relationship between religion and secularism in the specific context of Turkey with a critical perspective. He also proposed a model for these studies consisting of two main approaches, which he calls 'conflict' and 'adaptation' paradigms. Within this framework, he compared aforementioned approaches through their main representatives, and demonstrated the differences and similarities between them.”
